Dale's Mailbag

Q:  Dale, who is the top player in the 2013 draft?  Glen - Flint, MI
A:  There is no dominate one player in this draft, no "franchise" quarterback or stud defensive end.  What this draft does have is depth.  The offensive and defensive lines have plenty in the talent pool to choose from and I also like the linebacker class.  I can answer this question today and it may change tomorrow but my number one overall prospect is Texas A&M Left Tackle Luke Joeckel.  Joeckel is the entire package and a Pro Bowl type of player for years to come.  These type of players don't grow on trees.

Q: Who is the Top QB and RB and this year's draft? Chris - Ontario, CA.
A. Chris, the 2013 Draft Class has as many as four or five QBs that could end up being drafted in the first two rounds.  My personal choice is West Virginia's Geno Smith who is unlikely to make it out of the first round.  Several teams are high on USC's Matt Barkley as well.  There are a group of quarterbacks that could go after Smith and Barkley including Ryan Nassib of Syracuse.  I am still relatively high on Arkansas signal caller Tyler Wilson.

The RB position lacks a franchise back but there are numerous impact type players in this year's crop starting with Eddie Lacy of Alabama.  I am higher on Lacy than most but I really like his tape.  He is physical and more elusive than you might for his size.
